Noting that violence against women is increasing in the world and in our country, Ahmet Savaşan, President of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council, underlined that violence is inhumane no matter who it is applied against and condemned the recent murder.
Stating that violence against women is one of the important problems that remain topical in the TRNC as in many countries, Savaşan underlined that femicides are an irreparable human rights crime and shame.
OUR PRIMARY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY...
Stating that human rights violations against women are among the priority social responsibilities that need to be fought all over the world, Savaşan pointed out that it is indispensable for non-governmental organizations, women's organizations, public institutions and universities to work in cooperation to prevent violence against women.
EDUCATION MUST BE PROVIDED FROM THE GROUND UP...
Stating that many studies and steps have been taken to combat violence against women in our country, Savaşan emphasized that the desired point has not yet been reached. Stating that the legal studies to prevent violence must find their counterpart in real life and must be implemented, Savaşan said, “The main goal should be to realize the awareness-raising activities carried out to raise awareness of the society on ”Combating Violence Against Women” with a more comprehensive and more fundamental education.
INSTEAD OF CONDEMNING, THE CAUSES OF THIS SITUATION MUST BE TACKLED...
Underlining that instead of condemning any incident of violence against women in our country, the causes of this situation should be combated, Savaşan said, “All stakeholders, especially public institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations, should work together to raise strong individuals without gender discrimination and to reach a more sensitive society structure in terms of “Combating Violence against Women”.”.
